New office and retail development, 227 Broadway Ave, Palmerston North

The elegant 200m2 two storey commercial office building situated at 227 Broadway Avenue was initially designed to meet the needs of two anchor tenants, with the flexibility of additional varying uses including further office accommodation & a café area. 

Design features include feature Hinuera stone panels and columns, vertical and horizontal louvres, glass canopies and precast concrete for aesthetic and structural purposes. A feature of the building is a full height atrium entry providing internal access to the upper level offices and ground floor café. Construction design details include sound rating to roof to reduce rain noise and high performance glazing to reduce heat gain/loss.

It was important for the new building to have presence on this prominent corner site in the commercial heart of the city. The brief was to develop a minimalist, sleek profile which would maximise the amount of net rental area available whilst ensuring a classic architectural style able to stand the test of time.
